OP basically wants to save some money by doing the 'cleaning' I.e the rabbit area. Does the cleaner clean the whole place as well, the kitchen, oven, windows e.t.c?? Either way irrelevant, it might be a contract

I doubt a LL would accept this as payment. It's like walking into a restaurant and not paying the bill but offering to wash the dishes.

  • No, it's not just about saving money. The cleaner comes once a fortnight, which isn't often enough to clean a rabbit, as I discovered on my first day here as the whole area was a disgusting state, so I cleaned it all myself. And have been cleaning it every two days since. The guy who owns this place is very wealthy and is clearly happy to live in a state and have a cleaner come every two weeks - I am not.

I like to live in a clean place and I like to clean by myself.

Anyway, point taken about maybe not accepting that as payment. Even though I am actually saving him money.

Ask the cat if it has any third party liability insurance.

I would contact the guy you're renting from. Tell him that you broke the lamp, apologise and offer to replace it or pay for it. Let him decide and don't complain about whatever decision he makes.

Then, as a separate issue, explain to him that the rabbit needs cleaning out every other day rather than every other week, so either he needs to pay the cleaner to come more often, with him paying for that all himself as it is his rabbit not yours, or get somebody to come and take the rabbit away. I would then let it dawn on you that actually, a good solution to both problems might be for you to clean it instead, saving him a bunch of money, and he can forget about the lamp. Hopefully he'll go for it. If not, replace/pay for the lamp as he wanted and insist that he sorts out the rabbit cleaning/removal.

Is there any chance the rabbit could escape or form the basis of a nourishing meal?
