Beware bedroom world

I recently purchased a king size mattress, single bed, king mattress protector and 2 single mattresses from bedroom world.

I was permitted to select the delivery day upon checkout so deliberately chose one a few weeks away to allow me time to arrange a skip and for my friend to help with the delivery.

I took today off work and my friend and I dismantled one of my daughters' beds and put that, plus all three of our mattresses, in the skip.

My time slot for delivery was 8am-6pm. The kingsize mattress arrived on it's own around 9.30, which I thought was suspicious, so I called bedroom world who told me the rest of my order was out for delivery.

At 12.15 I received a text from them saying 'sorry but we won't be able to deliver your order today'.

I phoned customer services to ask what was going on and was told that one of the items hadn't arrived at the depot in time. I asked why on earth they didn't tell me sooner as they must have known it would be unlikely this order wouldn't be delivered but they said they don't know!

Now neither of my daughters has a mattress to sleep on, one doesn't even have a bed, I've paid my friend for helping but won't have her help when the beds do eventually turn up, plus I've taken a day off work. AND I don't even know if and when my delivery will arrive and my children will have something to sleep on, despite being allowed to chose the delivery date myself. I'm so upset and wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

  • Don't you just hate it when this happens....someone has made a mistake.
  • Throwing everything away before the new stuff arrived probably wasn't a good idea :(

I'm amazed Dunelm Group saw potential in WorldStores and bought them. They risk massive damage to their reputation by associating themselves with what I consider to be a tarnished company. They haven't owned WS long enough to make any meaningful improvements.

We all know the rules of buying off the internet - a company that prominently displays a physical UK address, a geographic landline etc etc.

What do WorldStores do? Hide their address in the T&C's. Click Contact Us and they use a webform! Even the 0344 number can be one bought by an internet scammer. I would expect webform and non-geographic numbers to be used by Chinese scammers selling fake goods and electronics.
