A New Driver Insurance Question

Potentially been asked a thousand times already but hopefully simple question but I am a numpty with insurance. I do shop around every year though.
Daughter passed test, we are not buying her car, we want to insure her on my wifes car which is already insured with Aviva until November this year. Do we have to insure her with Avivia or can we shop around for her alone?

The cheapest option will be to have her as a named driver on your wife's policy (but this does mean your wife's NCD is at risk should your daughter be involved in a claim where she is in any way to blame)
See if Aviva will cover her and if not she would need to cancel the Aviva policy and move elsewhere to a company that will0 -
Do Marmalade still do separate insurance for young drivers? I've previously been told that a young driver can take a policy out which just covers themselves on your car which doesn't affect the existing insurance. Think you might have to have a black box fitted though.
I would say that even if the above is correct, the easiest, most efficient way of doing it is to add her as a named driver to the existing policy and hope she doesn't have an accident and ruin your NCB.0 -

Good shout, did some research and Marmalade has just launched a product for this. We can insure her on my wife's car with them and not touch Aviva. Aviva wanted £156 a month, Marmalade £78.56. Some restrictions, black box, max 3000 miles PA and she cannot do over 40% of monthly mileage but that works for us (for now) will she becomes financially independent and pays herself. I am told children do do that eventually :whistle:0 -
Black box fitted, so if your wife or daughter speed how will they know who was driving?
If there is an incident with the car whilst its parked who claims?
Have you spoken to Aviva to see if they are OK with the marmalade policy on the car also?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
