Am typing this on my laptop, as my pc keyboard won't type.
It allowed me to log on, but nothing else. I switched the lead into an alternative USB port, but still the same. I had a spare, wireless keyboard, so plugged that one in, expecting it to work - but no. It was the same, no keys working. I just have the cursor flashing on my screen, but nothing else.
What can I, a technophobic dinosaur try, please?

Turn the pc off and on0

Just did that. It is still the same...0

Have you inadvertently pressed the key that says "insert", I think I remember doing this - it switched to doing something else so I pressed it again and it was OK.0

Does the mouse move ?0

I've tapped 'insert', but that hasn't resolved the problem. I wish it had. The mouse is moving about fine. It's just the keyboard is non-responsive.0

The keyboard has power getting to it - it is 'stuck' on NumLock. (The light is on). Can't get anything else.0

Have you tried plugging the USB keyboard into the laptop?
You could also try the "spare" wireless keyboard in the laptop for purpose of elimination - in case the battery is flat.0 -
No, I'll give it a go. Thanks for the suggestion.0

for the wireless keyboard have you plugged the receiver in?0

Yes, I remembered to plug the receiver in. But nothing. It took a while to do a windows driver update, but afterwards nothing. I restarted the pc, but it remained the same. I've switched back to the old wired keyboard, mainly because that one has at least got a light on, so power must be getting to it. The wireless one had no lights showing.0
