Transferring to open University and Student Loan advice

I would be grateful for any advice. My son is on a three year University course and has already repeated year 1 after failing while suffering with mental health issues. Year 2 was started in September 2016. Last week it became obvious he was very unwell again and he is not going to be able to go back to University. My questions are if he takes his credits and transfers to an Open University course is he entitled to have funding to restart year 2 and do year 3? Is it true that he is entitled to 60 days of student finance from the date of his last attendance of a lecture? As he was living in rented accomodation we are liable for rent until August 2017.
Thank you for your help I know the information is there but I find myself unable to absorb it!

Hi mumofastudent and welcome to the MSE forum.
I'm afraid I can't answer the funding question, but hopefully someone who does know the answer will be along soon.
As far as the rent goes, he would be best to advertise in the usual student places for someone else to take over his room. The rent commitment won't go away just because he drops out of his course.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
