So dosent the TV have scart connections? only the Sky+ box which gets HD has HDMI output!0

I connected my Sky box to my DVD using Scart and then DVD to TV using HDMI and also Scart ( two connections )
When the DVD is on ( i.e. not in stanby ) it upscales the sky to HDMI - when the DVD is off it outputs to the Scart.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
An HD tv will upscale anyway-dont waste money on "Upscaling" DVDs -save you money for a genuine HD/Blu Ray.0

How does that work ? ( Not having a go here - just interested if I have missed something )
As far as I understand it - my TV only displays a HD image if it receives a signal into the HD connection and thus enabling me to select the "HD" option as the source.
Selecting the "HD" source with no input into that connection results in a blank screen ( which is what I would expect because there is no input ).
And additionally, DVD's that I have already have better quality playback ( In my opinion anyway ) when upscaled through the HDMI port.
However, with regards to the whole Blu Ray and HD DVD issues in general - until the industry get their collective minds into gear and come up with ONE solution then consumers buy at their own risk - this is very much a case of VHS and BetaMax ( and laserdisks - remember them ?? ) - and does the industry no favours whatsoever.
How can it be saving money if you buy the wrong option that dissappears in a few years time ??“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

Thanks joshm - very interesting reading.
However, I definately think that, in my case, the picture quaility is much better through the DVD.
Reading through the link it does appear that it depends on the TV specification - and I think that, since the DVD player is a much more recent purchase, the spec of the DVD and advances in technology has made the upscaling DVD far better than what the TV could do.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind.
