Hi, I am looking to buy a new gas cooker with installation but previously have only had electric cookers, can anyone confirm if this is a suitable gas cooker point?

looks like it is a gas pipe, probably fed a hob. For an oven you need a bayonet socket. Of course you can't tell if this pipe is connected to the supply without removing the end cap, or follow the pipe work back to the meter. If it is connected then gas will leak out and it will need a proper check with a manometer to check it is re sealed safely by a gas safe engineer. The next question is whether the 15mm supply pipe also feeds a boiler or is a branch. Just adding a cooker into the chain could mean there isn't sufficient flow for the boiler, modern combi's need a better flow than older boilers but pipework has often been in place for years and maybe that's why they went electric on the cooking front.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years.
