Short Term Car Insurance

Options
My son is going travelling for 5 months.

I'm looking to insure his car for me to drive, purely to keeping all parts in some kind of order. Basically take the car for a few miles drive once or twice a week.

I already have my own car and insurance.

Any advice as to which firms would be best to approach to cover the car for such a short time? Quite happy if they were to impose mileage and time restrictions.

5 months isn't short term, you're probably better off to take a full policy and cancel when no longer needed. Or get him to add you to his?

Thanks. He will have no need for his which is expensive due to his age.
  • Does your current insurance company offer multi car discount? Ring and see - may be as simple as adding his car to your policy and then cancelling after 5 months

Just park ot up with the handbrake off and chock the wheels to prevent it rolling away.

Ive parked cars up for longer without issue. Just drive gently for a few miles and expect a few rubbing noises from the brakes.

Take the battery off and keep it charged though.
