Many credit cards offer supplementary cards for the spouse or any nominated individual.

My question is whether the principal card-holder can also use this card?

This would be a great way to double up on various offers - I'm thinking of the Amex statement credits that can be applied for transacting at particular retailers, and their Shop Small promotion.

Yes, supplementary cards works great for shop small as i used it personally, i have got 4 amex cards between me and my partner and i have also got supplementary cards for all of them so 8 cards in total and this last shop small i used all 8 of them to get the promotion.

There was also an offer on amex recently where they gave you £5 for getting a supplementary card.

However, you don't get the initial bonus on supplementary cards for example spending a £2000 gets you 20000 bonus nectar points, you can only get that once, so it works for shop small and some other retailer offers from time to time.

No-one knows who's name is on the card as long as you can enter the right pin for it

so, no one asked for the details on the card i:e was it mine or not
