24.9.07 what small dfw thing will you do or have you done today?

Good Morning fellow DFW Peeps and welcome old timers and newbies alike :hello:

Welcome to a new week !!!!!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

So, today I will:
  • do piggy comps, clicks and surveys
  • only take £1 with me, so that is all I can spend
  • send everyone off with packed lunches
  • update my online spending diary
  • check online banking and update spreadsheet
  • not increase my debt in any way
  • be positive!
  • eat weekend leftovers for dinner
Have a good day everyone xx

I'm going to do all my piggy clicks, and have re-signed into quidco to start doing that. I'm also going to sign up to a laod more click sites (using eagerlearner's handy list)

I'm listing a load more old stock on ebay, plus a bunch of my ex husband's toys.

I'm also going through all my statements to make sure I know when all my DD's are ging out, so I can get some order into my life!!
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Today my OH handed in his resignation and it will be three months or so before he starts at the new job at a huge reduction in salary....there is method in this madness.... long term anyaway....so we have spent the last 6 months getting ourselves in the position to be able to afford the changes. i.e. we paid 25,000 off our mortgage....and will hit it with another 5,000 this week.
Still, while I have faith in this path we have chosen, it can't help to revert to some of the old DFW techniques I used many moons ago as a single mum of 2 in Japan. There, the then (seems to be getting a bit better) ression created a world of extreme money savers. TV programmes, magazines and even software is/was available to help the housewife eke out the last grain of rice, and tuck away those yen....at practically no interest!! I brought a lot of that with me when we married, much to his bemusement at first. Now it is time to get back to grass roots money saving. So (to answer the question that this thread asks us) today I will:

bring our spreadsheet up to date
go through the cupboards and fridge and plan meals for the rest of the week
log on to ebay and try an overcome my fear of the site, as we have tons of wee things and kids clothes to sell.

tomorrow I will go to Asda on a reccie trip (bit far but need to know what the local one is like) as we don't get Aldi here till 2009.

It feels like karma to have read the thread today. I want the kids, (3 now) and my darling OH not to have to feel the slump, nor dread it. It's not what you have its what you do with it that counts.

    Thanks a lot,

    Hime

Hi hypno, hi all, especially the newbies! Today I have:
    - done a survey
    - printed out an email, so I know how to update my website in future :)
    - paid the man who built the porch! Well, its moneysaving if it makes me feel better about having clients coming to my home. Thats my story, and I'm sticking to it. Like glue.
    - done my finance practice.
    - booked another mystery shop, and printed out the paperwork for the one tomorrow and the one on Wednesday
    - done a few clicks.
    - have put some chickpeas on to soak, will cook them in slow cooker tonight.

    To do:
    - sit out in the garden with a cuppa coffee.
    - do my meditation practice (this *is* moneysaving, honestly, it helps with the fear when I'm doing above finance practice).
    - piggy clicks.
    - watch out for any other surveys coming into my inbox.
    - sort paperwork before I take some time off next week.

    BAD moneysaver:
    - I let a box of eggs go off! I've never done that in all my born days, as we say in scouseland. Horrified (and pretty horrified at the way they looked, tbh.
