Affordable low VOC gloss paint?

Is there a good alternative to gloss paint that doesn't have the high levels of VOCs but doesn't cost a fortune? I have window frames, skirting and doors to do and am just looking for a white paint, not too worried about exact finish but needs to be durable.

White gloss paint will now go quickly yellow because of the additives being taken out under Brussels law.

Perhaps looking at another colour or water based paint would be better?

Yes, you want a water-based gloss.

I've done a bit of research in to this recently, the main recommendations seem to be Johnstones Aqua or Bedec Aqua, both water based gloss. Looking around £25-30 for a 2.5L tub of the Johnstones, The Bedec a bit more. Suppose not cheap but you get what you pay for.

You can get water based gloss, which doesnt yellow half as bad and is also low VOC. Water based wood paints are truly awful to apply though.

If you're happy with the finish satinwood could be a good alternative.
