Hello - Not sure if this is the right board for this?
My nephew enjoys playing on the following website: http://www.battleon.com. It is a game you can play for free (until they log you out!!) and you also have the option to become a "Guardian" for a one off price of US$14.95. My nephew would like to become a "Guardian", but I am just a little wary of giving my card details etc., to this website. You can pay through Paypal. The website is run by a company called Artix Entertainment.
I just wondered if anyone else out there had heard of this website and if they thought it okay to send payment?
Many thanks for your help.

I've just looked at the site. I can only see payment via PayPal. ( http://www.battleon.com/aq-guardian.asp is the page I looked at).
PayPal is safe - they are owned by Ebay. Create a Paypal account (if you haven't got one). You then pay PayPal, who then pay the company (i.e. they as a sort of escrow service). So at no point does the company get hold of your credit card details. All the payment steps in PayPal are done using 128-bit SSL encyption as the security, which is the standard method for taking payment details online.
To be honest, sometimes these days it's safer to do transactions online. No chance of card skimming, people altering reciepts (where they are hand written).
The only thing to be careful of is 'phishing' emails. This is where you get a message from Paypal, a bank etc. saying you need to go to a particular page and enter your details. In general, don't click on these links - they often take you to a fake site. The easiest way to check the authenicity is to manually go to the real site of the organisation in question (e.g. www.paypal.co.uk or www.paypal.com) and there's information where you can send suspicious emails to.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

If he is interested in online role playing games. The boy has just bought Guild Wars. The game was £30 (bought in a shop) and is played online. Normally there is a monthly charge to play these types of games online. This one is completely free. Once you have purchased the game, you don't have to pay any more. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
