John Lewis - Return Not Received

Just found it in my spam folder when I searched for confirmation@hermesparcelreturn.co.uk. Checked the tracking and it shows that it was collected on 30/12/2016. The last tracking was on 03/01/2017 and shows "On its way back to the retailer".

Looks like MyHermes may have lost it but I assume John Lewis will need to take care of this as it was their shipping carrier.

Good news, I'm sure it'll be sorted now. You definitely need to click the Thanks button on Neil's posts.

Excellent news, at least you now have proof to take back to JL.

I wouldn't worry too much about the last tracking entry, Hermes seem to have a habit of not updating it to say that's been returned. My last return still says "on it's way back to the retailer" even though it was collected on 02 Dec and the retailer themselves have confirmed it was delivered ok.
  • I returned a package with Hermes on 28th Nov. had collection and tracking number.Hermes lost this £499.99 item and gave me £25.00 compensation and they knew the purchase price of it. sent a "Letter Before Action" and they still refuse to resolve the claim with a full refund
    Hope you have better luck.

I'm sure JL will still say it doesn't show whole bundle being returned just one box. JL know it's been collected as it got delivered to them.

The OP only returned one box, there's no mention of a bundle of items.

It's like you've replied to a completely different post!

Did you arrange the return, did you pay for it? Is this about John Lewis or another retailer?

Most importantly, did you take out insurance to cover the purchase value?
  • Hello all,

I have a similar issue with John Lewis and was wondering if anyone could advise.

Around November last year my wife bought a 12 piece dinner set. Unfortunately the color wasn't really what we were expecting to see or what the pictures on the website were showing, therefore we have decided to return it back (hassle free returns by John Lewis...). The courier has been arranged by John Lewis. Few days later Hermes arrived and collected the parcel. I remember asking the lady if she would like me to take the box to her car due to the fact it was 12 piece set and the box was quite heavy but she replied she will be fine.

Few weeks later we have contacted John Lewis as we haven't received the refund. John Lewis replied that they haven't received anything and asked if we can provide the receipt. I have provided the receipt given by the courier and they went quiet for couple more weeks again. Few weeks later we have received a reply from John Lewis saying that it looks like the parcel hasn't been scanned properly by the courier when collecting and they can't find it. In the meantime I have spoken to the courier as it has been the same lady for the last 5 years in the area, and she has confirmed there is no way the parcel has not been scanned as the system wouldn't let her complete the collection. I have provided all the additional info to John Lewis and few days later they have replied saying that the parcel has now been delivered, unfortunately they can not accept the item and they will be returning parcel back to us. Moreover, they have informed us that we could take it to the store to discuss the return with John Lewis representative. After exchanging few emails back & forth they have accused us of sending an empty box therefore the refund can not be completed.

We have opened a dispute on PayPal as that was the original payment method, unfortunately PayPal informed us there is nothing they can do.

I don't understand how can they accuse us of sending an empty box. There were issues with the parcel from the very beginning which clearly indicates which places the courier at fault, unfortunately the courier has been provided by John Lewis therefore they won;t even question this.

    What else can we do?
