I have moved my computer from one room to another and now when i switch it on not much happens. It initially runs through the start up procedure then when it finishes with the window screen it just goes blank. I am using windows xp pro and have not experienced this problem before. All the plugs are in correctly and i have tried starting in safe mode but i then get a warning screen that i am 'out of range'. Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Can you give us more info? Are you using a wireless network? What, exactly, is out of range? The network? Broadband ....?

The screen is saying it is out of range and quotes the resolution. It is just a black screen. I use wireless networking which is running ok as i am using it now on my sons computer. i am confused as the screen works to take me through the start up procedure and then goes blank.

The exact same problem I had with the computer I'm using right now when I first got it.

If I unplugged the monitor AFTER it had fully started up then plugged it back in, it worked fine.

It started working properly when I found an update from intel

Check the pins at the end of your monitor cable, make sure they arn't bent.

did you move just the base unit or the full lot including monitor? the 'out of range' message is telling you that the resolution is too high for the monitor. Hit F8 on bootup and go to safe mode. right click the desktop, properties, settings change the resolution to 640 x 480 and then hit advanced and change the refresh rate to say... 75 herts. Reboot and see if it goes back into Windows. If it does change your resolution back to how you want it

Thanks for the replies. I have eventually got the monitor working. The graphics card must of come loose somehow whilst moving the machine once i pushed it back properly everything now works fine. :j
