Electric cooker hob wiring question

Bought a new electric cooker hob today and was assured by. British Gas engineer that it would come with an electric cable attached that I would just have to connect to a point on the kitchen wall.
Got the hob home and out of the packaging...no cable of any sort. It states it is 'hard wired' so can anyone advise me if it should have come with a cable or where I get one please?

An electric hob may well be over the rating of a "plug" so it might involve slightly more than just plugging it in, reading your question I think you really need to employ an electrican as I would say it is over your capabilitiesI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Assuming you have a suitable cooker point on a dedicated circuit, 6mm twin and earth cable is probably suitable. You can get a precut length at B&Q, Wickes etc. You will also need some green/yellow sleeving for the earth wire.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

As it is replacing the existing you should be able to use the cable from the old one.0

Hobs don't come with cables AFAIK. You'll be able to buy suitable cable at any diy shop.0

i fit hobs all the time and they is some that come with cable and some that dont. Exactly the same with some single ovens. Double ovens never have a cable.
As someone above has said 6mm twin and earth is needed andthe reason for not having it is to try and force it to be fitted by qualified electrician.
And to keep the warrenty sometimes the manufacturer insists its fitted by a qualified electrician.0
