My 12 year old cat had successful radioactive iodine treatment for hyperthyroisism. My annual insurance is due for next month. I had lifetime cover for her. If i renew this will still stand. But the treatment is supposed to be fail safe. So am i tied in to staying with this insurer for the life of my pet even though it is very unlikely to need further treatment for this condition

You can ask a company if they will consider covering it after a time. Petplan will cover somethings after 2 years with no symptoms.
Lifetime Pet Cover and I VetsMediCover also have that option.
Whether they are a better option than your current provider you will have to work out.
Who are you currently with and why do you want to change?0 -
I wouldn't touch Vets Medicover if I were you. After many years of them messing about changing underwriters the premium for my dog has TRIPPLED with no claims in the history. No explanation other than change of underwriter. They suddenly changed their terms to be 'lifetime cover but for a year at a time' so you have to put in a fresh claim each year, including having to pay the deposit and co-insurance 20%.0
