A friend has been Accused by a neighbour of obstructing a corner on the road and been Illegally parked
Hi , I wonder If anyone can offer some insight into a issue a friend has with a neighbour who is saying he is parking illegally on the road , by parking within 10 meters of a junction and also he is accusing him of obstructing a corner , he said he will call the police if I continue to park in the positions as outlined on the pictures.
I have seen the areas in person , there is no double yellows or give way signs at the entrance to the block flats.
As it happens there is around space for 3 cars , it may not quite look like it from the pictures shown but the aerial photo should help highlight the size.
Help and advice please as my friend does not want a parking ticket or a irate or unhappy neigbour.
Below are 2 pictures both from Google maps highlighting the areas concerned.

Based on the two pictures is my friend breaking either of the rules.
Parking within 10 meters of a road junction.
or
Obstructing a corner ?
or is he illegally park as it is near a bend ?
Is my friend doing anything wrong by parking in either area as highlighted on the aerial photo , is he risking a ticket ??

I don't know about the legality, will let other posters advise on that. But judging by photo 2 it looks like parking there could cause some danger, obstructing the view of the corner. But I don't know if it's illegal or not.0

Hi , Thank you for your reply , when looked at when there in person it looks like a perfectly reasonable place to park .
It is a odd one , I hope someone will know more too!!!!! Lifes wonderful !!!!!0 -
I wouldn't class the entrance to the flats as a road junction. There's a bend in the road but its not really a corner. Not an ideal place to park but if motorists drive with care and at a safe speed it should be ok.
Has parking there caused a problem for this neighbour?0 -
Hi Thank you for your reply , I am unsure if it has been a issue in the past for the neighbour , one thing part of the road marked up with bays for permit parking only for residents , as further down the road is a local village high street , but the marked bays end before the bend.
I imagine the neighbour does not like people in general parking there as perhaps over the years it has been a issue.!!!!! Lifes wonderful !!!!!0 -
If there is an accident he could be accused of 'inconsiderate parking'
Not sure if that's accountable though. Personally, it looks a pretty silly place to park . Is he happy to risk someone hitting the carmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I cannot see any actual road junctions in the photos.
The highway code says you must not park on a bend, and the law states; you must not leave your vehicle in a dangerous position or where it causes any unnecessary obstruction of the road it's a bit woolly.
Obviously the council don't consider it much of a risk as there are no white lines signifying any hazards, and no yellow lines signifying any parking restrictions.
I personally would be a bit cautious for my own cars safety if nothing else.
If a neighbour wants to get the police or council involved that might give a steer but they would probably send a PCSO round to have a look not much else IMO.0 -
Hi Thank you for your reply , oddly enough that is one of the better spots on that road for parking , the further you go up the road the tighter the road becomes , if one person is parked on the road , it is single lane traffic either way , with only the option to wait for one person to allow the other go .
