Refund on Curry's washing Machine

Hi, was just wondering what do next.I purchased a Logik washing machine from Curry's.I ordered online on 26/12/2016 and the washing machine was delivered on 17/1/2017.I have only used the washing machine seven times and it keeps developing the same fault. The wash cycle stops part way through the progam and locks with the washing not done.I then have to turn off the machine just to get my still soaking wet washing out.
I have contacted Curry's and asked for a refund but they are refusing on the grounds that I cannot find a serial number for my washing machine. The machine never came with any serial number either on the actual machine or any booklet with it on.Can anyone advise where I go from here?

It sounds like it might be detecting an unbalanced load ... are you over-filling (or even under-filling) the machine?
As to a serial number ... have you checked on the back of the machine? (You'd need to pull it out to see it, so you may need to disconnect the water and drain hoses to do so).
Apologies if I'm stating something you already know - it's not possible to tell from a forum post.0 -
The serial number isnt on the door frame when you open the machine is it?Dwy galon, un dyhead,
Dwy dafod ond un iaith,
Dwy raff yn cydio’n ddolen,
Dau enaid ond un taith.0 -
Having an unbalanced load isn't normally much of a problem with washing machines until it gets to the spin cycle.
As the OP's washing is still "soaking wet" it sounds like the draining hasn't actually started so it's unlikely that the spinning would have begun.
GFerns, who installed the washer? and are you sure that all of the transit bolts and packing materials have been removed?
If you do a search on Google, you should be able to find where the serial number is located.
If not, post the make and model number here and I'm sure someone else will be able to help out.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
The machine is same size capacity as my last one and as such I am putting in the same amount of washing,so not overloading.
The washer was installed as part of my order with curry's.
They said the serial number should be inside or around the door but nothing on there .The make of the machine is Logik and model number is L712WMB16.0 -

"Soaking wet" washing can equally mean the drain process has completed but the spin cycle has failed.
OP - when you turn off the washer (to be able to open the door), is there a lot of water in the drum, or is it just that the washing has retained water? Some more-modern machines can be a lot more sensitive to "unbalanced loads" than previous generation machines.

I've had a look on Google and haven't been able to find anything stating where the serial number is located on the model in question but there must be one on the appliance somewhere.0 -

If they're still adamant that they need the serial no. then go into a Currys store and get them to show you where it is.0 -
If you paid with a credit card, give up with Currys and just do a section 75 claim.0

Just an update couldn't find the serial number anywhere, so as a last resort I wondered if the label had come off so ran my finger around the whole of the front of the washing machine and found what appeared to be an underlayer of a label on the outside of the drum and asked someone to look with a torch to see if they could make out the number and it worked. Now in the process of getting a full refund!
Thanks for all the advice and a warning to anyone else to always take down the serial number, if you can find lol.0 -
Not that it matters now that your refund is being processed but I would be very surprised if the number you found was the serial number of the washer itself without the info also being shown elsewhere.
If the serial number was only on the drum then this would either change or be lost if that drum was replaced due to a problem and this is why appliances normally have a data plate somewhere on the chassis.0
