Problems adding Fernox F5

You will need release the pressure completely, and also drain off enough water to make room for the cleaner.
It wont go in if there is no room for it...0 -
There are two sides to the filling loop. Initially I put it into the cold water feed by accident, and then tried the other pipe (the hot water one), which I believe is the correct one but it doesn't work. Fernox say you don't have to drain the system to use it which is why it is supposed to be so straightforward
I drained enough water to reduce the pressure from 2 bar to 1. Should I empty more water from the system? How do I release the pressure?0 -

Are you sure that you should be attempting this job - you don't seem to have a clue!0 -
Well, I'm not a plumber or a heating engineer, but I know some basics and thought I could handle this job given that the video from Fernox made it look simple. Perhaps I should admit defeat:o0

Neither am I but I would never inject Fernox F5 into my own cold water supply!
It is a very simple job if you actually follow the manufacturers instructions.0 -
As I understand it there is a non return valve on the cold supply so no harm done? The manufacturers instructions seemed fine for adding to a radiator, but non-existent for adding to the filling loop as far as I could see. Adding to a radiator seemed to be the more complicated of the two options though. Anyway, I drained the system further and it went in. Problem solved! Thank you to all who replied.0

Can you not just drain the system, dump the contents in through the free top valve on a radiator, and refill? That's what I did in my old place (sealed system).
Honestly, I swear that 95% of the 'makes a hard job easy' crap is far more bother than the proper method.0 -
Thanks Grenage, I'd have to agree. In future I'll do just that using my bathroom towel heater as per Mr Generous' suggestion.
Thanks again! :beer:0 -
You do know that you don't leave F5 in the system don't you? It is only meant to help remove the sludge.0
