Ryanair and Rome

Just returned from a weekend in Rome, paid for online check in as only had hand luggage.

Paid to access t'internet in Rome yesterday to check in, only to find that all Italian airports Ryanair use (with the exception of Pisa) don't allow you to check in online.

To compensate, we had "priority boarding onto the aircraft".

Meaning we were allowed on the bus to the plane first so no priority boarding onto the aircraft.

Whilst it's only £4 OH and I paid for the rome-luton online check in, it's the principle of the thing.

The system could flag up when booking the fact we were travelling from rome and tell us that we couldn't check in online on the way home. And priority boarding should be onto the plane, not the bus, as their email states.

I'm very happy with the ethos of Ryanair as a whole, but don't like being sold a service that isn't possible.

So just warning anyone else out there to be aware...you can't check in online if flying out of Italy with Ryanair!

• Please note that the online check-in cannot be used by the following passengers:
  • Passengers travelling with checked baggage or on the same reservation as a passenger travelling with checked baggage.
  • Children aged between 14-18 years travelling alone.
  • Passengers travelling with infants
  • Passengers travelling with mobility equipment (including children’s buggies)
  • Passengers with reduced mobility, blind/visual impaired passengers including those travelling with a sighted companion
  • Blind/visual impaired passenger travelling with a guide dog
  • Passengers who require special assistance at the airport
  • Passengers travelling from Italy to the UK
  • Passengers travelling on a passport which is due to expire within 30 days from the date of travel.
  • When there are more than 9 passengers booked in a reservation
