I always found it a massive pain, and having a few cards could never remember the password needed. Too be honest, if it popped up I would just quite often abandon the purchase rather than go through the hassle of resetting VBV to get a new password.

I suspect it led to so many abandoned shopping baskets, it got quietly dropped or wound back.

I'm so glad its being phased out. I doubt it stopped much fraud but I am sure it prevented plenty of people from transacting at the crucial last step. Then it was back to the start, being timed out etc. major frustration and represented a final hurdle that didnt need to be there.

I've literally never had an issue with it, across tens of cards, ever since it came into being.

Am I in a strange minority or something here?

But it's a password! How do you remember more than one password!?

When you've been involved in computers and the Internet for 20 years you have so so many passwords and usernames it's impossible to remember them all. Along with the mandatory password updates and the inevitable password resets etc, it's sometimes impossible to remember a password for a credit card you may hardly use.

I don't particularly have any trouble managing. I again struggle to see the issue.

That's probably because all your passwords are the same or you rotate between a set of passwords.
  • Co Op uses a memorable word- much easier IMO.
