New window advice

We had a window fitter round to measure up and order us a new window. Whilst we were waiting for it to arrive, we removed the old window as we wanted to replace some old bricks around the edge which had split. I stupidly didn't give the bricklayer measurements for the new window as I assumed he would replace the bricks exactly as they were but he's gone slightly over. The height is perfect but the width is now 1cm smaller than it was and the window is due to be fitted in a couple days..
Can you shave 0.5cm off each side of a upvc window frame? Or can you shave down the bricks somehow without taking them out? Or am I going to have to get the bricks removed and replaced, again?

It's very likely the windows will have been sized as smaller than the opening anyway so it might not be an issue at all - have you asked the window fitter if it's a problem? This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
