Hi Everyone

My dog went for an op 6 weeks and 3 days ago and I put a claim in instantly with E & L. It was a patella luxation operation (on the left knee) and I have written confirmation via email from a member of staff there that they are willing to cover for both knees to be operated on in the next 12 months. Now E & L requested further information from my vet a couple of weeks ago and after calling today they are saying they are still investigating my claim I don't understand what they need to investigate if they have already given me written confirmation about the op. I'm out of pocket at the moment by nearly £2000 and I'm getting worried they are going to refuse to pay as that is something they are renowned for. Do you think I should threaten Financial Ombudsmen or is it to early to report them?

Before you go to the FOS you have to have put in a complaint to the insurer and either waited 8 weeks for them to not reply or have received their final response.

Threatening them with the FOS will do nothing except get their backs up, just put in a complaint and go from there.

E&L are a shocking company (Paddy I recoomend you google them or search MSE)

Could you give us more information.

Are there any disclaimers on the letter E&L have given you agreeing to pay the claim?

Before they issued the letter did they perform any investigations eg check with your vet to see whether it's connected to an existing condition.

What are E&L telling you at the moment when you contact them?
