Legal cover policy only?

Hi all,
Today sees the start of an extension build to the back of our property, so I have contacted Aviva (who we have home insurance with) to advise them, so clauses can be added re theft etc, which is all fine.
I wanted to add legal cover as when we had a bathroom fitted a year ago we ran into all sorts of problems that having legal cover to at least fall back on would have been nice. I however have been informed that it cannot be added to a current policy, but only when I renew.
Is there anywhere that I can be pointed towards that could offer me just the legal cover?
Cheers in advance!

If the building works have started (as per your OP) then it's probably too late to take out cover which you can use for this.
The only thing I can think of (and still no guarantees it's not too late already) is to take out a new home insurance policy from today with legal cover.0 -
Building work (or in the case of today, demolition work) literally started at 9am this morning and only got round to ringing Aviva when I arrived in the office!0

Please be-careful when obtaining a new policy for the legal protection cover. Please read what happened to me below and consider if this could happen to you if you decide to change policy providers.
When did you enter into the contract for services and would it be within that 12 months of holding the policy.
Each year I shop around for a competitive quote on my home insurance as advised by MSE.
I take out the Legal Cost Cover as an extra bolt on.
However what MSE do not tell you is that if you want Legal Help with a matter that happened prior to you having insurance with that current provider they will not help you. They state and this is Direct Line: A contract for services entered into prior to you having cover with Direct Line 2016 is not covered with this policy.
I entered into a contract for services with a solicitor in 2013 and now I found they have in my belief acted negligently or should I say I now question the service I was provided with. Direct Line legal helpling will not help in the dispute because I was insured with another provider for home insurance when that contract was signed. I contested that there wasn't a dispute in that year 2013 and this has only come to light now as the contract was terminated in 2016.Now why is no one flagging this up ! It can't only be me who is having this problem. Where does it say in the T&Cs on purchasing this extra bolt on that it will only advise on matters that arise in this 12 period and not prior matters. Therefore this extra supplement is worthless in my opinion.
I would like MSE to highlight this and help the consumer Buyer Be Ware. Switching is not good. Think before you switch. No one ever tells you about this. MSE get your message right and tell people of this flaw. I have potentially lost out on a large amount of legal advice cover, I now have to fund separately.0 -
I get the feeling you may have a misconception over what the legal cover actually is on Home insurance, based on your posts this morning. Forgive me if I'm wrong.
What is you need legal advice with?0
