Interest Charges on CC thats paid off

I have just paid off my CC that was over 8K which is fine but I have had a statement today trying to charge me another £96.00 in interest charges, can the company do this? and if so is there anything I can do about this, they advised that this is called 'residual interest'


any advise or help would be good I have waited a long time to pay this off in full and I don't have another £96.00 to give them (personally I think it its the u know what)

Don't worry - it's all correct.

It's the interest charged between your statement and when you finally paid it off.

As above. It's called trailing interest.

As above you need to have paid off your credit card in full for 2 months for interest to stop.

Congratulations for paying off such a large debt.

I really don't know what the you know what is.
The interest charge is almost certainly correct.
It refers to the period from the statement date of the last statement until the date that the balance was fully repaid.
