Hotel Close to NEC Birmingham

I wonder if someone has any insight on what is the closest hotels to the NEC in Birmingham we are going in a few weeks and I have no idea how far the hotels are from the venue. Guidance much appreciated.

I'm also considering staying over at NEC. any recommendations for close, availability of a shuttle and cheap?

There are several very close where you can walk in to the centre in a few minutes

They get booked up well in advance particularly for large trade shows.

We used Arden Hotel and Leisure Club, walking distance to the NEC

If you look up travel wm then you can get details of buses and trains to the NEC (served by Birmingham International Station). You might be able to get a better deal going a bit further out and buying a daysaver bus ticket (currently £4.60). If you are in a group there are group daysaver tickets as well.
