Quick query about making my own Christmas Cake

I am about to make a Christmas cake today but just realised that the recipe states 9" round tin which I don't have. I have a 6" or 8" round or a square tin that I can adjust to any size up to 12" square.
I have got the ingredients all mixed now, so can't alter the quantities - does anyone know what size square tin I should use instead please?
Should I still bake it for the same tin as well?0 -
Hi,
There's a conversion guide on BBC Good Food website. I think you'll be okay with 8" square tin. Check the website to be sure though!0 -
Thanks for that. What a useful guide. It is 8" square.0

Making this my old Kenwood Chef has just given in the ghost, and he K Beater has broken, smash my glass bowl, does anyone know the weight of the sugar, so I can start again, it only had butter and sugar in so have everything else.
Thanks DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hi, my leaflet says the dark brown sugar is 210grams.
(Preloved is a great place to buy spare parts for your Kenwood, I have a really old one 1970's type and recently got the dough hook for about £10)0 -
Hubby was in town yesterday when the market was getting ready to pack up. A stallholder was giving away free Christmas cupcakes - she gave one to hubby - fruit/marzipan/iced and decorated. They had some left and didn't want to throw them - also good publicity for their cakes. Hubby chatted with the stallholder as they walked back to her stall - she then gave him a boxed Christmas cupcake to bring home for me. We will only each eat half of one of these big cupcakes at a time so we are sorted for Christmas cake - two days.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
