Oh, why is that, does it not work so well?. I have electric hob at the moment and wondered if the induction would heat up quicker.

Induction hobs are sooo much quicker than ordinary electric. We have a lovely black ceramicglass hob, with 2 ordinary and 2 induction. needless to say we only ever use the induction section.
One problem is you need special pots which can be expensive
It heat is almost instantaneous just like gas

maypole they work ok but boil over quickly which does not suit me and as for frying absolute crap gas is so much better but at the end of the day its personal choice .

If a pot does boil over it's very easy to clean up and frying is no problem but as you say it's personal choice. i suppose one advantage with gas is that if you have a power cut you can still cook and boil a kettle!
