PPI Help

I thought I'd give this PPI business a try, however as I don't have any of the old paperwork, I'm not sure who to contact initially. I know Barclaycard are the ones to contact if you had an Egg card, but can anyone please tell me who to contact for a BHS Card and an M & S card? If you've had more than one credit card, loan etc, do you need to submit separate claims for each one?
Thanks

Hi Everyone

Egg cards depends if your account was moved to Barclays or not, Canada Square (Citibank) also do some of them. You don't "give this business a try" though, you have to establish if you had PPI and then give your complaint reasons.
BHS & M&S you complain to the store as it would have been sold by an employee - again you need to establish you had it.
You should submit separate complaints for each product as it's unlikely they were sold to you on the same day at the same time by the same personSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Actually, for M&S cards, including old Chargecards, you should address any claims direct to M&S Bank.
There's a page on their website giving instructions on how to start a claim by phone or post.

Hence saying you should address the complaint to M&SSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

Your earlier post said:BHS & M&S you complain to the store
I was clarifying that for M&S Chargecards and similar products you need to contact M&S Bank directly and not the stores business. The bank is a separate operation under different ownership these days and, while I would hope the retail business would forward correspondence where necessary, writing to the wrong place would presumably delay any claim.0 -

Yes, you complain to M&S i.e. the store, they will forward on any complaint to the right department if they can't deal with itSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

I'm in an even woolier position. Haven't got any of the old paperwork so can't remember which cards etc I used to have, and have just tried to find out some info from Experian but failed there too. So all I have is 5 addresses since 1995. Is there a way to find out who I had accounts with as a starter? Thanks0

The CRAs only store data for the last 6 years.
So all that is left is to check your own records.
If you don't have those, then you could send £10 to every lender under the sun for a SAR if you're feeling exceptionally lucky.0 -
M&S Bank is not a department of M&S, it was sold off some years ago and is now an entirely separate company owned by HSBC.
The right place to send PPI complaints about M&S financial products is to the bank directly - as per the instructions on the Bank's website which I linked to above. If you send your complaint to the retail business you're just going to delay your claim or risk it being lost somewhere between the two businesses.0 -
