Bank account not mine on file

Hi everyone,

so i have been checking my credit file well last year, and i have 3 defaults 2 i know of and 1 is a bank account with lloyds from an address i do not know, i disputed it with noddle who said they cant change it and to contact lloyds, i wrote to them and they have wrote back to me saying they don't have any info on me having a defaulted account with them, only my live one which i no longer use and has a £0 balance, (havnt used it for over 5 years so i should close it) so i called and was told they need an account number i advised them i don't have one i just seen it on my file and there is no account number, and they basically have said there is nothing they can do!

The account is now with Hoist portfolio Holding 2 LTD , i have not received any letters from them, well i wouldn't if they were sending them to the address on my file which i have no association with, i went back on and looked to see if there was any more info i could give the bank and noticed my address has changed on there now to my current address.
details on my credit file are Account start date 10/01/2002
Opening balance £ 238
Repayment frequency Monthly
Date of default 06/08/2012
Default balance £ 238

so i am wondering 1- why and how has my address changed? 2- where do i stand now in getting it removed? who do i contact?

Thanks in advance.

Also i have 1 more query if you can help me? my other 2 defaults on my credit file are dated 30/10/2011 and 20/03/2012, do they ever come off? when do they come off my file? i heard 6 years off someone but unsure

thanks again

Defaults will be removed after 6 years.

Are you the owner of the Lloyd's bank account?

When the debt was sold to Hoist they probably looked at your current address on your file and updated it.

It will come off automatically after 6 years.

They may have got the address wrong that does not necessarily mean it's not your account. Does your Lloyd's account you still have show on your file?
  • err i never noticed or looked for it to be honest, i recently had a statement through from lloyds for my account, and noticed the last 4 digits (which is all that is shown on credit file are different)

None of this quite adds up to be honest! I will tell you how I see it:

So you have an account with Lloyds but:
they don't have any info on me having an account with them

Hmmm.....If this is your debt there's no point in trying to get out of it. It won't work. I would imagine you will be getting a letter from Hoist Portfolio shortly. It does also happen to be within 5 months of one of your other defaults.

If this is genuinely not your debt. Check your report find out if the current account you do own is listed and if not phone Lloyds with your details and ask them why they are not reporting your account to the cra's and at the same time you can ask them why they are reporting an account you do not own. It may also be worth looking at your associated addresses and see if this unknown address is listed anywhere else on your report.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.
  • Its Honestly not mine, sorry that should say they dont have any info on me having a defaulted account only the open account. (worded it wrong) i've only ever had 1 with them.

I dont want to contact Hoist as i have heard horror stories about them once you ring them, i will ring lloyds again, but i did check and the said address is not listed anywhere else on my files.
