Average Speed cameras

Just because you don't get a ticket - speeding through roadworks where people are working feet from you car makes it ok?
And driving "erratically" so as to hide behind lorries seems to be a poor idea surely?
So once you are past that camera - isn't everyone else in front of you sticking to that limit and staying in lane - so where will you get to by doing this? 300 metres further forwards? A distance you will travel in around 10 seconds on a motorway.
Arrive 10 seconds later and save us all.

You obviously did'nt read the original question correctly - I have no issue with them
I also failed to see that it wasn't obvious that a camera can't see through a lorry to a car on the other side. So I looked for another motivation.
My apologies.
As others said, whether the camera sees you is down to where you are in relation to the lorry and the camera.
Of course, as the signs often say, these sectors are also patrolled by traffic officers in marked / unmarked cars.
So I guess a hidden question is what they would be able to do if they saw you deliberately alter speed so as to hide behind a lorry?:(I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0 -

Just do as Clarkson suggested. Stop right after the camera and wait a few minutes, then you can drive at 180mph until you pass the next one.
I watched a geezer following that advice in the long term road works on the A45 Coventry last year, 2 cameras about a mile apart, he went past the first one around 40 at the speed limit then accelerated to probably 70mph overtook a whole line of cars, then slowed up to probably 20mph a few hundreds yards before the second camera (now holding others up) to even the speed out, to be fair he probably jumped twenty cars so maybe made one light change at the roundabout.
He must have thought it worth it, maybe he had done the run on a stopwatch so knew exactly how long to cross the second camera, not often you see it quite that blatantly, but takes all sorts i suppose.0 -

Whether it would have worked is another matter. There are still people around that think it is an average of the speeds at which you pass the cameras, rather than the simple arithmetic of known distance over time...0 -
Firstly I have no issue with them just wondered....
What would happen if you passed a average Speed camera level with a large lorry - would it fail to detect you?
Along those lines, BMW / Audi drivers have worked out that if they tailgate the car in front of them as they exit the speed check zone, the front facing cameras can't see their number plate.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Just to save us all time (and your own in writing the posts), why don't you just give us a list of all the things/people/ages/races you DON'T hold a grudge against/stereotype of/disparaging opinion of, or generally dislike due to the many chips on your shoulders?0 -

People working at motorway roadworks? Let me know where, that'll be the first time I've seen it.
How long have those roadworks on the M3 been there?Pants0 -

Some must be out there though, as there have been a fair number killed while working on the roads?
Or perhaps (to quote an old joke recycled) you should have gone to Spe.....savers.I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
