Hastings Direct, I have more years NCD than stated - Problem when switching?

Hi, I just wanted to check if I need to be worried about my NCD proof.
I have eleven or twelve years NCD. My renewal is coming up with Hastings Direct and they sent be the renewal letters, on the "statement of renewal" under Policy details and NCD it is listed as "9 or more year(s)". I wondering if this wording will be a problem when switching insurers?
I've used the moneysavingexpert guide and I've found a much better deal with Direct Line saving over £300. I'm wondering if I will have a problem with them accepting the above mentioned "statement of renewal" NCD years listed as it don't actually say how many years I have? it just states "9 or more year(s)".

I don't know the answer unfortunately but I've just changed from Hastings Direct to Direct Line myself and my renewal letter said '9 years' NCB (which is correct) and not '9 or more year(s)'
You do know about the Direct Line £60 voucher if taken before the end of January? You just have to purchase it now as mine doesn't kick in until the 11th of Feb but they've confirmed I'll still get it.

Direct Line only take into account 9 years anyway so it won't make a difference. When you leave Direct Line it'll also say 9 or more years.0

Its often worth keeping historic details to cover the different NCD periods that insurers offer. i.e. proving your history may require supplying multiple renewal letters.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I think as stated if you keep you old evidence of it bothers you. Then if ever an insurer will give a discount for more - you will be ready.
But it is equally likely, unless someone can find a case where the Premium changes between 9 and 10 years NCD, you will be given the highest NCD "credit" by most insurers and if not that other factors are anwyay much more "important" to the price they quote.
In short - select the maximum years allowed (if you have more) and then compare premiums anyway. Keep your records if you wish and try to get your new insurer to accept the actual number of years.
Consider this - never having seen your GP for 6 or 8 or 12 years is unlikely to have much bearing on your future need for him. In the end, your need to visit may be about events beyond your control - be that a virulent flu or back to driving a third party hitting your parked car and driving off.I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0 -

Thanks for pointing that out, but I don't think I can get it as I may have to complete over the phone as I'm adding tinted windows and there's not a option to add it during the online quote process.0 -

According to MSE some people have received error messages (404?) when trying it on online and have had to use the phone to do it with no issues, you can always try 'alternate facts' when speaking to them0 -

I phoned them round about the time you posted, so unfortunately missed this otherwise I would have given it a try.0 -
I'm with privilege and their NCB discount is capped at 9 years regardless as stated on the policy, I put in the correct amount when I do comparisons but honestly it's not made any difference - they quoted me £438 this year (with 9 years - actually 13 but capped), I did some comparisons with 13 years and cheapest I could find was £415 and after I rang them up they knocked it down to £394 anyway so anecdotally for me anyway it doesn't make a difference.
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Quite a few insurers do this so I would not worry about it.
One insurer even tried to use it as a selling point to me that another company would only show 9 nine years and they would show the actual amount but it makes no difference in reality.0
