LCS contacting me, will it be on my credit file?

Hello MSE,
So I got a letter for unpaid energy bills for a shared house i was in at uni. Turns out the person we paid our share of the bills to took the money. Our names are on the account so it's come back to bite me in the A**!
My question is will this be noted on my credit report? that EDF have referred the debt unto LCS? As It will most likely make me fail the vetting procedure for my job.
I've emailed them back explaining the whole situation and will call them up on Monday morning.
thanks

Regardless of who the account is showing with, it's the status of the account which is important.
Check all three files.0 -
I haven't seen anything on my credit reports, (last updated on the 19th) and I pay with experian so I can see everything on the report as to make sure my vetting will go through.
So the fact the debt is now LCS isn't an indication that it will show up on my credit report?
This account is over 5 years old, I believe it's from August 2011 - August 2012, So 5 years and a few months. I'm not gonna try getting out of it as I can't fail this vetting, Hopefully when I call them I can arrange to pay what I owe. I'll have to try and track down my old housemate who defrauded us.0 -
Have you only checked Experian?0

I don't think EDF report to the CRA's. They never used to. Definatly worth checking your files anyway.
It's worth checking Noddle and Clearscore aswell to be sure.0 -

Yes, EDF don't report you to the CRAs, so the question is, if a non-reporting organisation sells a debt, do the buyers of that debt get to report you? I assume, and hope, not. However, in the murky world in which the CRAs operate I wouldn't be 100% certain of that, so check anyway.
Some learning points for all of us: never ever have utility accounts in joint or multiple names. Use EDF, or maybe SSE, as a preferred supplier, due to their non-reporting.0 -

I was thinking this. I don't think they do if it's not already on your credit file. I have never seen it happen anyway.0 -
Why thank you so much for the replies and help.
I've checked clearscore and Experian and there is nothing, So hopefully they have passed it on to LCS and NOT put it on as a default. I hope and pray that that they say it's not going on my credit report.
Definitely never putting anything in a joint name.0 -
