I am in receipt of PIP award at standard rate, which had been awarded until sometime in 2018.I happened to be talking to a lady in Specsavers, today. I was going to pick up mine and my husbands new reading glasses. She was telling me a tale about her husband getting the basic rate PIP payment ( I did not tell her that I got it too) .She said that because her husband gets that benefit, they are both entitled to free glasses and dental treatment. I was puzzled, having just paid for both pairs of glasses. I did not ask her anything more about it. I did not want to sound nosey.
Both me and my husband have dental appointments this week. I may have to have root canal treatment which will be costly. Maybe we are entitled to free dentist fees also. Does anyone know, without me having to speak to a government department to ask?

receiving PIP does not automatically entitle anyone to free glasses or dental treatment.
free glasses/dental treatment is based solely on household income
people that receive income related benefit get free treatment ( the fact that they receive income related benefit means they have a low household income)
low wage earners and people on contributions based benefit can complete an HC! form to help with NHS costs0 -

I thought it was wrong, wonder how she gets it then? Thanks for your replies.Keep on trucking!0

if she works part time and her husband doesn't work at all, it stands to reason they will be on a low income.
even if she works full time, i doubt she earns very much0
