Parking Eye

Options
Hello, I have just received 6 parking charge notices from Parking Eye, on each day I paid by the automated telephone service and have text messages confirming payment. I have appealed under their appeals system and attached a copy of the six texts received from them in a word doc. Is this sufficient evidence for them to cancel the notice? I have not had a parking fine before and just wondered if anyone can advise me please?

With any normal business you would hope so. But unfortunately you are dealing with an unregulated industry whose sole concern in life is to generate profits by penalising members of the public. Most of them do nothing more than this - and ParkingEye is the biggest of them all. Welcome to the Wild West.

You do need to read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1 only at this stage. Come back when you get a response from PE, or earlier if you need other advice.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Sounds like you input your VRN incorrectly to me, what exactly does the text receipt have your VRN registers as?
Its not the newly highlighted space between characters scam cropping up is it?

These are not parking fines. However they can't be ignored and you need to know how to appeal these at POPLA stage because you will not win by showing the text messages. POPLA is something of a farce when it comes to consumers proving they paid, POPLA just says 'maybe, but you didn't do (whatever PE allege the stupid error was)'.

That is why if PE don't cancel these you will need help to word these at POPLA stage.

This is a monster of a company but they do cancel a lot of charges because their systems are (allegedly) a mess - and if not, these cases can be won at POPLA if we throw the kitchen sink at it.

Surely you can't have put your VRN in wrong six times - must be a flaw in the system.

Where was this, what location, some are notorious, e.g. Aire Street Leeds.
