Is this worth appealing???

Options
My dad and myself popped into town last Friday and parked in a disabled bay (he has a blue badge). When we got back half an hour later, we noticed we had a parking fine stuck on the window. Unknown to my dad, his badge had expired THE DAY BEFORE!!!! We now either have to pay £70 or half price within 14 days. Can we appeal? I have been reading the advice on parking tickets on here but still a little unsure.

    Who issued the ticket?

Of course it is worth appealing, if they took you to court, I suspect that a judge would be unimpressed by their lack of compassion. .

If this is a council fine then you would be better off posting this on pepipoo.com as they are the experts for that sort of thing. However, your dad didn't suddenly become able bodied just because his badge expired the day before, so yes it is worth appealing.

If you have received a private parking invoice then you should read the NEWBIES sticky thread then appeal.

Please tell us whether this is a council fine or private parking scammers' invoice.

As we tend to major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there (but please note that a hotmail address won't work) and post a new thread; here's your link:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=30

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.

PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets, and they will guide you through exactly how to shake this off.

Usually a Council will allow a 'first offence' appeal from a Blue Badge holder.
