We are about to buy a new car, and a friend is buying our old car for £400.
They won't be able to get to us for a few days at least after we get our new one. My insurance co (direct line) looks like they will let me change policy to new car and have old car on temp insurance.
Would friend be covered to drive car 60 miles to their home (they have fully comp ins for different car also), for me to then declare SORN, and then transfer ownership, leaving it for them to tax & insure once they have funds?
Or would I be better to SORN it on my driveway until they want to tax & insure it? I'd prefer it to be gone, as we don't have a lot of space, so parking both cars will be a bit of a squeeze!
Thanks

So long as he doesn't own the car when he drives it you should be ok.0

Best from a legal point is SORN it and then your friend insures and taxes before taking it home.0

Could you drive it to them whilst still insured by you, and then transfer ownership?0
