Can you really find an independent fitter to do three bedrooms and a staircase (wasn't it?) for less than £140? Sounds v cheap to me.

And an independent fitter will most likely be able to supply the same or similar carpet as well - which is a better option as in case of any problems you don't fall foul of the 'it's not me it's the carpet supplied' or 'it's not the carpet it's caused by poor fitting'

Correct, 3 bedrooms and staircase. The site just says £140 for fitting a 40sqm carpet. Doesnt specify stairs/rooms so unless im missing something yes £140.

I had a quote of £130-170 however this included the grippers/metals and means I dont need to worry about making a mistake ordering too little/incorrect grippers.

In addition the independent covers fitting the carpet & underlay. I'm not sure if carpetright include fitting the underlay? (I would imagine so but they say everything is extra)

Edit - what you say does make sense tbh so which grippers would I need for that carpet and size?
    https://www.tradepriced.co.uk/carpet_gripper.htmland is it 28m required?

We went for emperor twist carpet at £15 sqm https://www.carpetright.co.uk/offers/emperor-twist-plain-carpet beige 620

Agreed to have the carpet delivered and fitted however immediately after purchasing from carpetright I found out I can get the same carpet for £11.49 sqm online at https://www.burts.co.uk/carpets/burts/burts-stainsafe-heritage-heathers-luxury and http://www.onlinecarpets.co.uk/stainsafe-heritage-heathers-luxury-new-carpet.html but I cant get the same colors.

Carpetright arent open atm so cant call to check if I can cancel but I know they offer a 28day price match guarantee but it states it needs to be like for like quote, delivered, fitted, carpet etc which due to those both being online I dont think they will match.

    1. Does anyone know if I can now cancel with carpetright since I have already agreed to purchase it in the shop and get a full refund? (its only been 1 night)
    2. Is it still better to pay more and get the fitting/guarantee/warranty all through the 1 retailer (carpet right)?
    3. What would people recommend through experience, im worried about purchasing carpet seperately and then having trouble with fitter etc and then blaming the carpet/fitter etc? What have you lot mostly done?
  • No other floor covering has the same benefits like carpets like comfort, insulation, colors & textures, absorbs sound, safe for children and pets, less dust, easy to clean, looks better with time, maintenance free, resilient.
When it comes to design your imagination is the possiblity, anything you can create we can materialize in form of a carpet. Based on the design complexity, number of colours, the material you like, textures you have in mind, price and the quality we will recommend the most suitable construction type and then we will create a computer design based on your idea, in the size you recommended and once you approce the computer design we will start manufacturing the carpet. You can also choose to do the creative development of the pattern yourself or you can explain your ideas to our designers who will do it for you.

Put talcum between the floorboard to stop squeaks and screw, don't nail, down. Posted by I have spoken

Whatever you do, make sure you know what's under the floor boards before you start nailing/screwing. Mr S still hasn't lived down the time he tried to fix a squeaky floorboard which had a water pipe underneath.......

I'll never buy a wool mix carpet again as the last one brought in case bearing clothes moths which are difficult and expensive to eradicate.
