Wall mounted bath taps

Hi,
Forgive my daft questions...
I'm wanting to get my bathroom done up soon. I am fancying a wall mounted bath filler/thermostatic shower mixer tap thing...
If the wall is dug out to allow the pipes in, and then it's all tiled over etc, what happens if there's a leak in the pipes in the future? Or if the tap breaks and needs replaced? Do you need to take all the tiles etc off to fix it? So will basically need to retile the bathroom again coz what's the chances of getting the same tiles years in the future?
Thanks!

Buy extra tiles?
What are your walls made from?
What does the bathroom back into? Best solution would be to have pipework on the other side of the wall, only going through the wall at the back of the fitting, then all joints are accessible...
Not sure I would want to chase the whole lot into a wall, you could also strap and line the bathroom wall to take all the pipeworkThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Ahh buy extra tiles! Good idea! Will do that anyway, even if it don't go for wall mounted... just in case...
The wall is an outside wall. The other side of the wall is outside and 1 floor up.. 😐0 -
Do you mean like this ?
The pipes that are set into the wall have no joints in them other than the final connection's. They are also sleeved within 22mm pipes and were pressure tested to 6 bar before the tiling was done. The fill is via the over flow flange, Quite a lot of work but well worth the effort and leaves you with a clean sharp looking finish.0 -

Can you use the side wall instead? If it is a stud wall it'd be easier than chasing in to a solid wall.0

Daft question again, but what exactly is a stud wall? I think all my walls are solid. The bathroom fitters have gave them a wee bang to try and work out if they're solid or not. Think they are...
This is the one I'm thinking of... https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/premier-wall-mounted-square-thermostatic-bath-shower-mixer-valve-bottom-outlet-chrome-vbs005
I would rather no taps on the bath, so it's easier to clean. Trying to clean behind my current taps is a nightmare because it's so tight...0 -
Stud walls are partition walls made from timber frame with plasterboard over. They're often used for internal walls.
I didn't want taps on my bath so I used a bath filler waste system which uses a separate controller which makes water come out of the overflow hole kind of.... Will seek link to photo for you!

I'm back!

Yeah I was thinking about one of those before... how is yours? But I was thinking of one of those and a thermostatic bar thing on the wall, for a shower. Then discovered that one on the link I posted which kills 2 birds with the one stone?0

" 2 birds with the one stone".
The shower from the same bath room as #4.
With a fixed shower head .
Both the thermostatic mixer valves are identical, and is capable of feeding both a bath and a shower in one installation combined with a waste filling flange, you get no taps and no visible pipe work.
It was expensive though.

Search hansgrohe ecostat 1001 . Easiest option to fit and about the best quality you can get. Often pop up on eBay for £100ish new
If you decide to set into the wall, use soldered copper tube only, wrap in denso or duck tape to protect from mortar . No need to sleeve etcHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0
