Marriage or not - Terminal Illness Diagnosis.

  • I'm very sorry for your loss - but pleased be reassured that you gave your husband enormous peace of mind at the end of his life.

I got my diagnosis of lung cancer at the beginning of May, & got married to my partner of 40 years a week later. It is just such a relief to know that he has the legal status to say what should happen to me. I previously had him named of NOK, he has power of attorney, but "spouse" is a special relationship recognised by all cultures.

So I am comforted to know that the man to whom I have trusted with my life and well-being for most of my adult life will have total control over the end of my life.

You gave the same comfort to your husband, & I know that will be at an emotional cost to you.
