Can anyone advise on this one please?
We got a lovely Edwardian style toilet bowl and cistern from Freecycle, but now we've come to fit it several months later, we've realised the inlet and overflow are in totally the wrong places for our existing services - the current ones are - inlet comes in bottom left hand (as you are looking at it) and overflow is top right hand, but the new one is bottom right hand inlet and bottom left hand over flow........ There is only one handle position too - top right hand (old one was top left)
Is there any way of changing the gubbins in the cistern so it will be easier to fit?

Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Well, it would be quite unusual to have all of the fittings line up - in fact I have never seen this.
The overflow is reasonably easy. If you install a new syphon with a built-in internal overflow then you eliminate the need for the external overflow. You can then use a blanking cap for the hole.
As for the inlet, you will really need to adapt the pipework to suit. The neatest job that you can do will be to use copper pipe and soldered joints, don't forget to use pipe clips and it will look pretty professional. Remember to get a proper tap connector and don't forget the red fibre washer.
Alternatively, pay someone to do it for you!0
