in Credit cards
Hi,
I'm new to the forum and would like some advise. I've completed the MSE balance transfer eligibility calculator and am pre-approved at 100% for several 0% balance transfer cards with long 0% terms. I'm looking to transfer approx. £9k from 2 existing credit cards. How do I know which to apply for as I'm concerned if the credit limit isn't enough to cover the full debt I want to transfer? Is there any way to find out what different providers may offer as a credit limit before I apply?
Secondly if I get a card and the credit limit doesn't cover the full debt can I transfer a percentage of it (e.g. If got a card with a £5k limit and one of my cards has £6.5k on it can I transfer £5k of it then leave rest on existing credit card?)
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hi
Unfortunately you wont know what limit they will give you until you apply.
If the limit they offer isn't enough to cover the existing card then you can transfer a percentage. Usually up to around 90% of your new card credit limit.
From my own experience MBNA usually offer the better/higher credit limits.
Hope that helps0 -
CC providers first decide whether they want you as a customer, then confirm how much they are willing to lend you. I'm not aware of any CC that will tell you the likely credit limit before you apply.
MBNA do have a reputation for being one of the most generous although they were not that generous to me.
Barclaycard, Halifax and First Direct all gave me higher initial credit limits. I have banked with FD for years which would have influenced their decision.
Santander and Sainsburys gave me the lowest limits.
You don't have to transfer the full balance onto one card. If you can only get 2 x credit limits of £5K you could transfer £4500 to each card.0
