pop ups being blocked

can anyone help, pop ups are being blocked but the blocker is not switched on.I checked in the tools bit.This has been like this for a week and driving me potty as I cannot access some sites and member centres on others.I'm not too savvy on computers so idiot proof advice would be appreciated.Oh I did try allowing named sites in the internet options bit but they were still blocked.I use AVG anti virus. thanks

Have you tried a system restore to a time just before it stopped working?

It could be anything at this stage, but I'd try that first.

Have you installed 'Windows Live Messenger' recently?

If so did you also install the live toolbar?

This has another popup blocker with the default set to block.

Old skool you're a genius! Bang on the button my son installed live messenger and no one had noticed.I found the button to switch off the pop up blocker and normal service is resumed.thanks so much.:D

Glad to help, it was a shot in the dark just seemed to tie in with when Instant Messenger forced you to upgrade. You've probably guessed,...... I got caught out to start with as well:rotfl: . Glad you're all sorted and back on-line.
