Microsoft has just launched a new promotion. Students can get the new Microsoft Office 2007 for just £38.95 (ERP £599.99)
Here is the website:
http://www.theultimatesteal.co.uk/
The offer continues until April 30th 2008 so there is no hurry to buy. You simply download the trial version (opens 12 times) then purchase either a 12 month product code (£12.95) or a full license (£38.95).
The best thing is that the license code is still valid after you stop being a student (only condition is that you are a student when you purchase it)!
I found out about this from a legitimate Microsoft e-mail (as i'm part of the student eZine) so this is not a con.
Not sure about Dreamweaver and Photoshop but it is a good idea to check with your university as they may have negotiated reduced rates for students.0 -
You don't need to purchase any software at all!!!!!
Microsoft Office - Give OpenOffice a try, fully compatible with Microsoft Office http://www.openoffice.org
Photoshop - Give 'Gimp' a try. I am not into my graphics so can't give hands on experince. I have however read that it is extreamly good (although very different in how you go about using it compared to photo shop). http://www.gimp.org/
Dreamweaver - Any self respecting web developer should not use tools such as dreamweaver. I see dreamweaver more for use by a home user with no interest in the web but wants to build a web site. If you are wanting to do web development properly check out Aptana http://www.aptana.com/ . Javascript / Css / Html / PHP auto completion, syntax highlighting etc etc, I use it daily in work.
For more free software check out http://www.gnu.org/software/for-windows.html and http://freshmeat.net for free, open source software.0
