Good Evening...

We are due to sign contracts a week on Monday to our 1st forever home....We rent at the moment have been here for 7 years...The name of the agents have changed 4 times but still same company....We also went on to a rolling monthly contract...

Is it just 1 calendar months notice??

Thank You:beer:

Give notice of one month the day before rent day.

Good luck in your forever home..... how exciting for you......
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I think the notice period has to run a calendar month from your renewal date. E.g. 15th of each month. So if you give notice on the 14th, you'll have 4 weeks clear. It you wait until 16th, you have to wait 7 weeks and 6 days weeks.

I stand to be corrected! I always thought it was 4 weeks whatever until someone corrected me.

It's one rental period. This is based on how often you pay your rent (monthly, every 2 months etc). There must be at least one clear period between you giving the notice and it take effect. Unless your agent/landlord agrees otherwise and is willing to work out a partial months rent.

So, if rent is paid monthly and on 15th and you give notice on 14th Feb your notice will end in March. If you give it on 16th Feb your notice will end in April.

    Not enough information.

do you pay rent weekly?Monthly? Quarterly?

Is your contract a Statutory Periodic Tenancy or a Contractual Periodic Tenancy?

If CPT, what does your tenancy agreement say?

If SPT, no - it's not a calender month it's a full tenancy period.
