Morning all. I come here to admit that I haven't been very MSE at the moment. Like a lot of people I haven't been feeling great over the past couple of months and noticed that my mental health has taken a bit more of a dip than usual, which has led me to spend a little frivously on clothes mainly. Not that I want to justify my spending but I usually buy a majority of my clothes second hand and have done for years, so picked up a few bargains that way plus bought some actual new things while I had a 20% discount voucher and was ordering baby clothes for my friends. Must admit I'm feeling a little bit guilty about it but also not because they're all things I love and know I'll get a lot of wear out of. I just feel that I could have used that money in better ways but oh well, it's done now.
On the money front the mortgage is now at £249k exactly. By my calculations, we should be under £245k by the end of the year which would be an amazing achievement, and we're on track to get a really good deal in September by reducing the LTV. I'm now an 8th of the way to maxing out the LISA and the emergency fund is getting there slowly thanks to some really good Prolific payouts.
Health wise, other than the mental health wobbles, I'm on week 6 of C25K and feeling really accomplished already - I can't believe I managed to "run" for a straight 20 minutes at the end of week 5! It meant that yesterday's 8 minute run in the middle of the session felt like a walk in the park and the stats showed a way better pace because of it. My stamina is definitely improving and hopefully I can carry this good feeling forwards into everything else.
Work wise, I'm feeling a bit uninspired which I think is contributing to the general meh feeling. Have a couple of things to get ticked off the list at the beginning of this week but then I want to spend time trying to find my inspiration again. Just need to find some motivation to get started!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20174 -

Well it's pay day today and I've done the usual shuffle and just waiting for the 1st of the month to roll around for the rest of the DD to clear.
It's been a strange and busy month; all the main people in my life have their birthdays in May (mum, dad, husband) and various other anniversaries and things means I've kind of burnt myself out a little this month and had a bit of a mental health wobble over the weekend. Feeling better now and looking forward to an easier few months ahead 🤞 Although that being said I'm hosting a surprise baby shower this weekend so maybe after that things will be a little less busy 😆
On the money side of things, things are ticking along and we may have booked a holiday for next September which is going to take pretty much all of the current holiday pot but knowing that the money is sitting there already and we just need to save a bit for spending money is very freeing! We're going back to Walt Disney World for 10 nights and staying in another one of the deluxe hotels - not quite as good a deal as the last trip we took but we did get a discount on the flights so they're coming in at almost half price. Now the fun of planning begins which is rather exciting for someone like me 😂

Had a really lovely bank holiday weekend - the baby shower went really well and the parents to be were very surprised and very happy with the copious gifts from the 5 of us, although they are running out of space apparently so I'm glad we got them small things. I may have made a pregnant woman cry with one of the gifts; she is from South Korea and I managed to find some story books written half in English and half in Korean so her and her husband can both read the same story to their child. Giving gifts is part of my love language so I was so happy that she was so happy! We also had my parents down for lunch on Sunday and it's been a year since we've seen them so that was a highlight of the weekend too (and not just because we finally got to exchange Christmas and birthday presents!)
Payday shuffle has completed for June and I've managed to make an additional £190.96 OP to the mortgage so we're now at £248,500. Really can't wait till September when we can switch to a new fixed rate and really start making progress with a smaller interest rate, smaller monthly payment and therefore larger OP's.
