Claiming from a Disolved Company

Hello Everyone

I am looking for some advice claiming PPI I was mis-sold back in May 1997.
I was a guarantor for my grandmother when she purchased her house from the council and unbeknown to me until recently I was paying PPI to Bennett Gould & Partners (BGP) until around 2005ish.
I first contacted Halifax who the mortgage was with, they advised it is nothing to do with them so I contacted BGP who advised it was nothing to do with them either but who informed me I was sold the policy by Orange Finance Ltd.
When I looked up Orange Finance Ltd the were dissolved in 2014 so I am at a loss on where to go next.

Sorry for the long thread but any advice would be greatly appreciated

so I am at a loss on where to go next.

    You don't. You give up.

Insurance regulation did not start until 14th January 2005. Where a sale is made after that date, if the company ceases to exist, you have the right to make your complaint to the FSCS. However, prior to that date, they will not consider your complaint as it is pre-regulation.

So, you have no-one to complain to.

  • Thank you for confirming this, maybe I will dump it onto one of the no win no fee companies as I am not going to get anywhere ;)

Well, if you do, mke sure they don't have a clause to charge you for the work done when it comes back with nothing.

Seeing as they use the exact same process you would use, who do you think they are going to send your complaint to?

A number of CMCs have provision in their T&C to be able to charge time wasters who knowingly create work knowing there will be no success. Most commonly used against those that have already made a complaint and been rejected but it could fit here as well.

  • Thanks for your replies , I will draw a line under it, the dumping on a claim company was slightly in jest
