baxi Duotec

Hi all,

Got a Baxi Duotec combi 28 HE which over the last few days has been losing pressure.

I mainly notice it when i get up in the mornings before work and the heating is not working, and need to put the pressure back up. I have seen a few threads about re pressure the expansion vessel which it could be? I have checked all around the house for leaks etc encase, but nothing. Can anyone advise on getting the pressure gun which i have seen on youtube to check this or advise on what it could be apart from this.

Thanks

  • Tie a plastic bag over the copper pipe outside & see if it gets water in it, obv you will need to seal the bag to the pipe to stop rain getting in

Sounds a silly question but what copper pipe outside? and what if it does get water in?
  • You should have a safety pipe from your boiler that terminates either at low level or is turned back towards the wall, if it gets water in it you need to replace the pressure relief valve & your expansion vessel pressure needs testing & probably topping up

Check underneath for water marks on the coppper pipes. Seals can leak and evaporate off without you seeing a drip causing the drop in pressure. Feel inside the case from the bottom, it could be wet in there. I have the Duotec 40 and have seen where a few of the leaks come from.

The only silly question is the one you never ask

  • All sorted thanks. The expansion vessel pressure was low so had it drained and re pressured and seems to be working great.
  • Post #4 the thanks button is right at the bottom

  • Well that's fixed now getting a e168 error code which apparently is the pcb board.
  • E168 is a generic code, the boiler has faulted but it can't remember what the fault was, it might be the pcb, try resetting the boiler on the switch on the front if that doesn't work turn the power off to the boiler on the spur for a couple of minutes & see if it resets, try a couple of times if it's doesn't work straight away

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the feedback.

Thankfully a friend of mine is corgi registered so again i had to ring him to see if he could take a look at it. By the looks its the PCB and i have ordered a new one which should arrive in a few days, so fingers crossed its this.
