Sainsburys is ignoring me for 3 months - can anyone help me?

Are you going to explain why and exactly what rights?
As far as I know the sale of goods act doesn't mention anything about compensation. The company will just have to investigate this.
It's no good saying the words `trading standards` & `consumer rights` to someone dealing with a complaint without knowing exactly what you are talking about, you'll just sound thick! The person dealing with the complaint will have heard this 100 times today already, you won't be scaring them, they'll probably have higher knowledge about rights etc than the average consumer anyway, so you may as well know what your talking about.
Mmmm, it seems someone needs to listen to their own advice
. There is a recent article from the Times online (don't pay too much attention to the article title) that examines the law regarding damages as a result of a faulty product. http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/law/your_shout/article2049145.ece
"It should be noticed that the buyer can recover all his loss caused by the defective goods (including damage to his other property or personal injury) from the seller under the Sale of goods Act; it is just that he also has a claim for the latter (as have third parties) from the manufacturer under the Consumer Protection Act. If there is no such damage or injury he only has a claim against the seller under the Sale of Goods Act unless there happens to be a guarantee, which he can enforce against the manufacturer".
In my experience many customer care teams, complaint departments etc have little understanding of the SOGA. Afterall, how many stores fob you off after yout 12 month guarantee has expired! Should damages be proven you have a claim to consequential compensation.0 -
That was exactly my point. The post I was refering to had no indication of anything specific. With the sale of goods act being however many pages long I can't be bothered to go through it myself to find out any useful parts. It's just more useful if people point out to others anything relevant.
Too many people will just say "I know my consumer rights" & mention trading standards without actually really knowing and just look a fool.
Do I need to listen to my own advice? You missed my point. I wasn't stating anything, just saying as far as I know which isn't saying I'm sure. Too many people don't do that on here. There are completely sure their right but don't have anything to back it up.0 -
Thank you so much for all this info
I know I have the right to ask for compensation for the damage but I didn't really know what was written in the Sale of Goods Act. It is very useful to know it
Today I have sent a letter "signed for" to Sainsbury's. I have sent it to the "Head Office" since I don't know the name of the person responsible for this. I hope someone competent receives it.
After the 2 weeks deadline that I gave to them, I will contact the Trading Standards office and solve this. I have to fight for my rights.
If any of you has any other ideas or info about how to solve this, please let me know.
All the best for you Guys!
Goal: Win a car (or cash to buy one
)! -- Haha goal from when I was a student. Never actually won this but got a good job instead.
What I achieved:
Car paid in full straightaway.
Two properties fully paid. Wohhoooo!0 -

Probably too late to change it now, but the Chief Executive of Sainsburys is Justin King.
It would have been better to send it addressed to him.
Most large companies have a department working in the CEO's office who deal with complaints at an executive level.
Might even be worth emailing the letter to him, it seems email addresses at Sainsburys work as firstname.lastname@sainsburys.co.uk

I'm not entirely sure grandslamgirl inferred the OP should take what she wrote and use it verbatim. I think we should assume the OP has the wherewithal to take it as a headsup, albeit an obvious one. You critisised grandslamgirl for her vagueness but have not actually contributed anything specific of your own apart from misdirection. Better vague as you know what they say about a little knowledge....
Anyway, I don't wish to digress as ultimately we are all only posting because we wish to help.0 -

Yes :rolleyes:I'm not entirely sure grandslamgirl inferred the OP should take what she wrote and use it verbatim
But some would, believe me, I know from experience, your naive if you think otherwise. That was the sole purpose of my post.0 -
Yes, it looks like a dream but it is true. :T Finally, after 4 months trying to solve this problem, I have received compensation for the damaged clothes and for the time spent trying to solve this.
Thank you very much to all of you for helping me with this. Specially to the person that gave me Justin's King email (d123 Thank you very much
) . He was the person that has solved this.
I was right: they have lost the washing powder I gave them and no one was informed of my complaint. I did the same complaint for 4 times. It's inadmissible. However, Justin King was great and very efficient in solving this. It's very good to know that there are people that care about their customers. I was really thinking about stop buying things from them.
So, this post is just to be fair with Sainsburys. Finally I can say that there are competent people there that care about their customers and they are ensuring that their staff are reminded of the correct way to handle complaints such as this.
It's great to receive an apology and the compensation for what I've lost
All the best,
