You are correct Robbie.
Can anyone clarify that not having a Correct diagnosis will affect my claim at tribunal?
Just thinking back in hindsight, and during the assessment I was different.
Either bipolar or SAD, as I come to life and more in the sun/heat.
I am not interested in anymore diagnoses...but if this is the case, does it affect my claim? Which was based only on anxiety and depression.
If my tribunal comes after the summer sun has kicked in, my depression will be missed both times and I assume the assessor worked this out.
Many thanks.0 -
No not having the correct diagnosis won't affect anything. PIP isn't about a diagnosis it's about how your condition/s affect you in daily life.alwayssmile123 wrote: »You are correct Robbie.

Whilst I don't disagree, a diagnosis of bipolar disorder will carry a far greater weight than one of SAD. There will not be many PIP awards made solely on a diagnosis of SAD.0 -
Having that label attached would only do more harm I think....
SAD sounds gentler and more acceptable...
Thanks for replies0 -
If you have bipolar don;t be afraid of the label. I have it. But to be honest for some things it actually helps. Like with workplace adjustments, they seem a lot more willing to help because i have bipolar than i think they would be if it was "just" depression (i dont want that to come across as me saying depression alone isn;t debilitating it very much can be) etc.
Are you "in the system" so to speak? By that i mean do you have a support team? Psychiatrist? CPN? Etc When i claimed PIP i think it helped that i had a few years worth of letters from my psych/cpn as evidence. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hi messed,
Thanks for your message. No, Im not in the system...and I don't want to be.
I was allocated a support worker but it was/is a joke. I had to go to the assessment alone and of course the 'nurse' had me for breakfast.
The reason I applied for pip is so I can get away, I've done online tests and I seem to meet the criteria, but I don't see myself externally so....
I also seem to meet the SAD descriptors so.....
Either way, and whatever diagnosis this pip process is beyond belief... It doesn't make sense. How can so called professionals act this way.
its actually sad when you think about it...they knew I was going alone.
I even put in a claim months before this one...extended time to send in pip form..and eventually cancelled. Only to try again when I felt 'better'
Whatever the diagnosis, would it stop these people behaving this way?0
